Best pet friendly places to visit in the UK
7 August 2017
Summer is well and truly upon us, and families up and down the country will be packing up the car and heading off on trips around the UK to make the most of the British sunshine. It’s a great way to see some of the beautiful sights our country has to offer, but for many of us it also means leaving our pets behind.
At Pets Corner we know the difficulties in arranging the right kennel or finding a pet-sitter that you trust before you leave, and we all know that you can’t help worrying about how your pet is getting on while you’re away. Wouldn’t it be great if you could skip all the hassle and find somewhere that your furry friends were welcome?
The good news is that there are loads of fantastic pet friendly destinations across the UK. We’ve created a list of some of our favourites so you can spend your summer break with the whole family.
Burford is known as the ‘gateway’ to the Cotswolds and serves as the perfect place to start roaming the region’s rolling green hills and picturesque rural towns and villages with your four-legged friends!
The town is home to some great pet friendly hotels, B&Bs and pubs as well as a number of private holiday rentals. If you’re looking for something different to do, you can introduce your pooch to some exotic animals at the Cotswold Wildlife Park, the UK’s only dog-friendly wildlife park!
The rugged moorlands, enchanting woodlands, and heaps of beautiful sandy beaches, make Cornwall a dog-walkers dream. The ancient town of Launceston is no exception and offers plenty of beautiful dog friendly routes which pass by the famous Launceston castle.
There’s certainly no shortage of canine friendly accommodation, but if you’re travelling with more unusual pets, don’t worry – some Cornish hotels are happy to accommodate rabbits, guinea pigs, budgies, even spiders and stick insects!
This beautiful pet friendly town is well worth a visit. Once again, pet owners will be well served with lots of places to eat, and pet friendly accommodation is readily available – some private rentals even have stables so you can bring your horse on holiday too!
If you want to get out of the town and really stretch your legs, the Yorkshire Dales are just a short drive away.
Where better to round out the list than the Cumbrian town of Keswick, located in the heart of the Lake District National Park, which was voted the UK’s most dog friendly town for four years running!
You will find water bowls on the pavements, special doggy menus in pubs and of course plenty of places to stay. If you’re looking for more information you can visit one of the town’s pet friendly information centres.
