Canagan are one of the most respected names on the market when it comes to high quality cat and dog food and it’s not hard to see why. Canagan’s original ethos was to create a nutritionally wholesome food that was as close as possible to your pet’s ancestors’ original diet (canagan means ‘baby wolf’ in Celtic). Whilst your pet’s diet has evolved as they’ve become more domesticated, their nutritional needs have not. Cats are still carnivores and dogs are still omnivores and they both still need a careful balance in their diet to keep them happy and healthy.
This multi award winning food contains high amounts of meat, vegetables and botanicals in every bowl and only uses human grade ingredients – in fact, the makers at Canagan try their food themselves before making sure it gets the seal of approval from their dedicated team of four legged taste testers. To make sure every meal has nutritional value, you’ll only find named ingredients in all the Canagan ranges, that means no meat and animal derivatives which are more common in cheaper pet foods – if you wouldn’t eat it, why should your pet?
Why is grain free so important in pet food?
Amylase is an enzyme found in the saliva of humans and some mammals which starts the digestion process. It’s needed to help breakdown starchy carbohydrates like those found in grains. Cats and dogs don’t have amylase in their saliva which is why a grain free diet is often thought to be kinder on their digestion. All the Canagan ranges of cat and dog food are grain free and hypoallergenic.
